The Who, What, & Why of Mama T's Candies!
Howdy! 👋🏼 I'm Tish (aka Mama T)! Nice to meet ya!
In May 2024, my world changed. After losing my corporate job and my two best friends to cancer, I spent over a year trying to get back into the workforce & emotionally recover from losing the two people I trusted most in this world. 💔
Fast forward to September 2025… When Texas updated the Cottage Food laws, a new path appeared. 👀 I have a background in baking and patisserie, but I didn't want the mess of flour or the heartbreak of throwing out expired pastries. I wanted something lasting. I wanted something that sparked immediate, universal joy. 😍
One evening after a particularly stressful day, I was watching YouTube & Hercules Candy popped up on my feed - I've been subscribed to them for years! I didn't think about it right then, but the next morning I woke up with the idea in my head - what's one thing that brings most people joy? 🤔
The answer was simple - CANDY! 🤤 And so here we are! After all the people I’ve met at various events through the years, one thing we all had in common was our love for food! And so I’m rolling with it… 😎
As a life long mixed-media artist, I don’t just "make candy", I create art you can eat! 😁 I’ve traded my art supplies for traditional confectioner methods - boiling pure cane sugar & corn syrup to over 300°F, pouring it out on my stainless steel table to add flavor & color, hand-pulling every batch on a custom made candy hook, and cutting each bit of joy by hand. It's a process I do with a creative spirit & a lot of passion. 💖
I might be the artisan, but I’m not doing this solo. My “partner-in-shenanigans”, Michael, is along the journey with me. 🤗 He’s my tech wizard, OG Beta T (aka beta tester), and the motivation that keeps the Candy Lab running. You’ll see him on our YouTube channel & helping out at events. 🥰
I’m not going to tell you I’m the best confectioner in Texas or anything like that. I’m a humble candy artist who is constantly learning, growing, and experimenting with new ideas. 🍭
My return on investment isn't a sales figure - it’s the look on your face when a flavor brings you a moment of happiness. In our modern world, we all need more of those! 🤗
